Nikon D70 Service Manual
The new Nikon D70 once again demonstrates the company philosophy of Nikon's ability to offer state-of-the-art technologies in the form of sophisticated products - a successful product strategy that establishes Niko's leading position among the camera manufacturers. As the result of decades of experience and extensive know-how in the field of analogue and digital camera technology and photographic optics, Nikon now presents a successful integration of innovative and high-quality digital components in a compact reflex housing with the new D70. The outstanding performance makes the Nikon D70 an indispensable tool for digital photographers. Thanks to the intuitive operation and a high degree of individual control, creative ideas can be converted quickly and easily into images. The D70 convinces both experienced photographers, as well as all those who are interested in the new field of digital reflex photography, with new functions, high performance and unique image quality. And thanks to its compatibility with the extensive reflex system accessories for standard and special applications, the D70 leaves nothing to be desired.

The pictures taken with the D70 impress with their amazing image quality. Unrivaled moments hold the D70 true to nature with bright colors and a high degree of detail - both of the outstanding quality features of the D70 result from the great dynamics capture and the high resolution. No question: Wherever you appear with the D70, you will be able to cast a smile on your lips and let your eyes shine. The CCD image sensor of the D70 impresses with a large dynamics capture and a high resolution. The result is powerful, bright colors and super-sharp details. With an effective resolution of 6.1 megapixels, the D70 saves images in a size of 3,008 x 2,000 pixels - more than sufficient for large-format printouts in high quality or cut-out magnifications. Each individual sensor pixel is provided with a micro-optic system which directs the light coming from the objective to the sensor element at an optimum angle. The unique sensor technology is perfectly matched to the autofocus lenses from the existing NikkorSortiment as well as to the new DX Nikkor. As with all other D-Series SLRs, the image sensor of the D70 is the same as the DX format. This ensures the seamless system integration of the D70 also for the future.

In the D70, a high-quality new-generation LSI processor performs the calculations for true-to-life color reproduction, optimal sharpness, automatic white balance and uniform tonal distribution. The processing speed of the processor is so high that even the complex calculations for the noise suppression, which effectively eliminates the color noise in long-term exposures, take place in real time. The high bandwidth of the system bus adds to faster processing, which has a positive effect when compressing in NEF format, data transfer from the buffer memory, storage in the dual file format (NEF & JPEG) or the almost delay-free display of your recordings on the monitor. The D70's accurate TTL white balance is based on the measurement data of the 1.005 pixel sensor, which is also used for 3D color matrix measurement, and also incorporates the color data supplied by the image sensor into the calculation. In addition, six white balance settings with predefined color temperatures are available for typical light sources, which can be adjusted with fine tuning if required. Of course, the white balance can also be performed manually via a measurement at the recording location and a storage of the measured value. In case of doubt, a white balance line ensures the necessary safety.
